Why is the incumbent not challenged within his party?

Because she at least has a grasp on the economy, unless she disagrees with Bill who says we shouldn't raise any taxes when we're trying to create jobs in this crap economy. Common sense trumps principles and self respect in this case....no love, just a better option.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Incumbents have a much easier time of being re-elected. Unless they've screwed up so badly that they've crossed the point of no return for voters, the party will squash any potential contenders and make everyone support the incumbent - it's all about the party staying in power, rather than the best person for the job.

Disgusting, really.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

Have to agree with SC. The party will make life hell for anyone who wants to challenge an incumbent. But if Obama was polling in the low 20's, I bet the DNC would "encourage" Obama to not run for a second term so that "he can spend more time with his family".

Seems like the first term they tread the water and if lucky make a few positive changes (read hooking the people). Then the 2nd term they get the power head on and run rampant with crap.

off topic, but, I was thinking the other day about how many people seem to have issues with Obama, Rs and Ds alike. I sort of forgot that during his second term (if we/they give him one) he will not have to worry about being reelected. So even if now he hesitates on certain issues, he can proceed after the election. Issues like MMJ and stronger stances on banks can be made more real. Hey, maybe cops can arrest criminals and we wont have to consider suing them as the most reasonable option.
