WASHINGTON (AP) -- A congressional panel has voted to subpoena former Sen. Jon Corzine to testify next Thursday about his role leading MF Global, a brokerage firm that collapsed this fall after a disastrous bet on European debt.

The hearing will be a rare moment in Washington. Congressional historians had to reach back to 1908, when a former senator from North Carolina was called to testify in connection with a corporate lobbying scandal, to find a similar instance of an ex-member of Congress being summoned by his former peers.

Crony Capitalism, graft and corruption, this is the face of our government... our politicians, the folks we gave jobs to in order to represent US in Washington. What do we get... politicians and special interests stealing us blind and taking the power of our Constitution and using it for their own personal gains. How much longer are we going to let this continue to happen? Or are we going to hide in out right or left partisan corners, playing useful idiots for this side or that side, while all the while they are slipping us the big one right up our rears. How does it feel to be raped guys and gals?

P.S.

Jon Stevens Corzine (born January 1, 1947) is the former CEO of Goldman Sachs[2] and of MF Global, and a one time American politician, who served as the 54th Governor of New Jersey from 2006 to 2010. A Democrat, Corzine served five years of a six-year U.S. Senate term representing New Jersey before being elected Governor in 2005. He was defeated for re-election in 2009 by Republican Chris Christie.[3] In March 2010, Corzine was named chairman and CEO of MF Global Inc., a financial services firm specializing in futures brokerage that filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2011.[4][5]
