I don't want to live in a country where it's NOT possible to make 350K/year. If the lefties like LJ have their way- it will no longer be possible because they would advocate the government steal that money away from the successful producers and earners.

People who make this much money are already supporting the 50% of Americans who don't pay income taxes at all- what right do the bottom earners have to their money?

No- I didn't make that much money this year- but I'm working my way up there. I see people just a few levels up from me who make much more than that- so it's not impossible. You all can give up and declare yourselves losers if you want, just don't drag people like me down in the crud with you.

It's also not out of the question that I could have a few good years investing what money I have earned and together with my employment income- make more than 350K/year. So I'm not counting myself out of the game just yet- I have not given up like others.

There's a good chance that many people out there have made this much money in one year just by selling a house or a business they have built up over the years- would it be fair for the government to take 90% of a persons life's work?

It's un-American to advocate that just because you make a few hundred K a year- that the government has more of a right to it than the person who earned it.

Those who say the government deserves it above those who earned it are Losers- Capital "L".

(ever try living in a place like San Francisco on a 5 digit salary?)

There's a lot to that. An income that would allow you to live like a freaking feudal lord in someplace like Mississippi would barely put you in the local "lower middle class" in somewhere like Manhatten or SF.

To be a "one percenter" in places like that I'm guessing your income has to be in the million dollar a year and up range.

No, what is being proposed, and has been for some time, is to let the tax cuts for the top earners expire, putting them from 36% up to 39%, which is what it was during the prosperous Clinton years.

They don't have a right, but if you earn more, you pay more on those earnings. It's been that way with our tax system for a very long time.

Who is talking about taking 90%?

Un-American? This is the way our American tax system has been set up and has been running for almost forever.

Since you have so many STUPID questions and suppositions in your rant above, I'll just back up Bear on one of them. Maybe you can pull your head out of your butt and research some of his other points and find out that he's spot on.

The way to do this is with a very steep progressive income tax with a very high tax rate on income above a certain level. So suppose we set the top tax rate back to 90 percent for people making over, say $3 million.

And if you Google "set tax rate at 90 percent" you find numerous people suggesting this. Think before you open your mouth.

Is there a particular reason why you are an asshole, or is it just your nature? I'm asking questions of another poster on this board, not you. There is no need for you to be so abusive.

Is there a particular reason you're so uninformed? This is a forum. Are you the thread Nazi, telling us who can and can't respond to comments? You were rather snarky to Bear. So... only snowflake Kate can be snappy to another poster.

You're telling me that I'm the post Nazi? That's rich. You camp out on this board, and at PineCam, too, stomping on people's posts just to rile up the forum and fluff your ego. What, exactly, do you do? Are you some retired, disgruntled janitor that likes to make snarky remarks to anything anyone posts just to make yourself feel better?

I asked questions of BearMtnHIB in a manner that I thought was respectful and honest - definitely not snarky. You, apparently, think it was a rude attack on him. The purpose of a forum like this is to have discussions and gather information from others, maybe learning new things along the way. According to you, I need to be absolutely and accurately informed of everything prior to making any statement, because that might make me ask a "stupid question."

Certainly might. And then your joined at the hip communist friend Lady Jazzer uses your untruthful statements and attacks Bear... you deserve it.

Amazing how you accuse others of doing the exact same thing you do. What would that make you?
