Corporations are the ones who SHOULD be pulling the strings. They are the ones with the most invested. The citizens' wellbeing is dependent upon the wellgeing of the corporations. It is reality.

I didn't read the quote in the original post that way at all. What it said to me is that Americans are getting disgusted.

They vote for change in one direction.

And nothing improves.

Then they reverse direction, and vote for change in the other.

And nothing improves.

Now it looks like they are getting ready to change directions yet again.

Why do they think anything is going to improve?

It's why I said I think they should all be fired, but I'm not so sure I want them replaced.

I just wonder how many times people are going to go through this pointless excercise before it starts dawning on them they always get the same result no matter which party they put in charge of things. And then how much longer after THAT before they start figuring out why that is.

The reason that nothing changes is that both Republican and Democrat ARE THE SAME. That is the reason for the current extreme shift to the far right; to make a change from our current "moderate" course. What we have had for the past 40 years is middle of the road, moderation, compromise, and such. Do you like the results? Really?

It is time for an extreme change in direction: conservativism.

I'm with you on your perspective on this being a pointless exercise and not wanting those ousted replaced. About the only way this will ever happen is with a revolution.

Really? Then how do explain all of the "gems" that keep getting reelected?

The last few elections break from the pattern that you are stating (and infer will continue). The last midterm election, the vote last November, and the election in 2012 will tell us whether or not it is politics as usual.
Things have changed and will continue in that direction. I predict that you will scream for the good old days in the future.
