I watch a lot of fox and I think you will see support for everyone from Romney to Ron Paul. The do tend to think alike when it comes to obama however. Impeach barrack now!

Hey chickaree, I'm so sorry to hear of this. I have had this happen to me as well and the only advice I can give is to let yourself heal and give them time and space. Maybe they will come to realize that your friendship is more important than one election of a lifetime, or maybe they are changing and their political philosophies diverging and deepening so much that it was a conclusion that was inevitable. Either way, I wish you peace.
BearMtn, do you have no compassion for others who differ from you at all? I understand that you agree with her friend more, but the issue here is chickaree's pain and confusion, not the circumstance of the situation.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
chickaree, I'm sorry this happened. It seems like people are getting so politically polarized these days that they are losing all perspective on what is really important in life. I'd never throw away a good friend for Newt, that's for sure!
Wow. That's pretty harsh - ending a friendship over politics! I have friends with very different politics than mine - we just talk about the issues on which we can mostly agree and shrug our shoulders on the rest. If your friend truly cherishes your friendship I would say that she's probably kicking herself right now. If she didn't, maybe she wasn't truly a friend to begin with.

Wasn't that a clever partisan slam on Newt... no... not really... sort of like cellophane... transparent as anything... but I hope it made you feel better.
I just don't understand letting politics come between friends.....it certainly doesn't have to be that way. Sunday we had our neighbor/friend over for dinner....he is old time Colorado Republican, now living in AZ... he used to be a precinct captain (?) for the Republicans and was on the Cherry Creek School board.......Republican to the core. He knows I'm a Democrat, but we talked politics anyway.......once we got past the ....yea I will vote for Obama unless the Republicans put up Huntsman, and then I'll think about it. And he agreed he would vote for anyone BUT Obama, even though he isn't too enamored by the Republican field.....we moved on to areas that we could agree on.....discussed policy, where we differ, where we agree.....made a couple jokes at each others expense, and never, ever, did we think our friendship would be in jeopardy. Real friends accept each other for who they are, not for who they wish each other were. (That goes for good relationships too, I'm married to a Republican)
