I love it when they "compromise" and the only loser is our kids. Instead of a payroll holiday extension, why not just do direct borrowing from the next generation. Every kid under 5 must sign an IOU to someone over 40. When that person reaches 65, they can go to that kid, and demand the $$.
Our current generation of politicians, and those who support them are selfish brats. Screw the kids...they want theirs.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
Too bad you guys don't think about the "kids" when the 1% are getting tax breaks for oil companies that they don't need; when the 1% are getting outrageous loopholes to keep their money--at the expense of the rest of the country; when the military keeps building multi-billion dollar toys that are obsolete before they are built, and tax-breaks for corporate jets... Yeah, what about the "kids"....
Here comes the Keystone XL Pipeline. I noticed the American media isn't talking much about this aspect of the bill....too busy rubbing the Republican's noses in other aspects of the bill.
I think the Senate Democrats and President did us a big favor by forcing a decision within 60 days on the pipeline. If they fail to push this project through they will be cheating hard working Americans out of a job. Don't try to run this line by me about how it's going to damage the environment or how it won't really create jobs. You can't possibly be serious. How could a $7 Billion pipeline project not generate tons of jobs? Are they going to have two guys build it?
Go ahead and outline your lame arguements against the pipeline....and continue your intellectual dishonesty. It's okay. I know BS when I smell it.
Oh, and thanks again to the Senate Dems and the President for FINALLY passing a bill that might actually create some work for Americans. My hat is off to you.
Earlier Thursday, Obama called on Congress to send him the compromise bill and said he would sign it "the second it lands on my desk." If that happens Friday, the 60 days for making a Keystone decision would run out February 21.
The State Department, where the application sits, has insisted the deadline does not give it sufficient time to satisfy all environmental laws and reach a decision. Many observers have interpreted that to mean the Obama administration is poised to reject the project.
But the Keystone provision approved by both chambers of Congress gives a possible out for TransCanada. It says the permit would go into effect if the White House takes no action in 60 days.
When asked whether the permit could proceed without the State Department's explicit endorsement, spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said last week she was not "prepared to speak to the legality and constitutionality of what the Congress is appearing to try to legislate here." She reiterated that the department needs time for "jumping through all the hoops" held in front of it, including the late Nebraska route change.
The House Republicans pulled off the oldest trick in the book. "Watch the birdie". It's priceless.

As I understand it, and may be wrong, President Obama requested a one year extension, the Republican controlled House passed a one year extension, the Democratic controlled Senate passed a 2 month extension, then split for the holidays so they wouldn't have to talk about it anymore.
"Keystone XL would be Canada’s first step in diversifying its energy market. The pipeline would divert large volumes of Canadian oil from the Midwest to the Gulf Coast, where it would be available for the first time to buyers on the world market. To sweeten the deal, many of the refineries on the Gulf Coast happen to be located in foreign trade zones, where they can export Canadian oil to the world market without paying U.S. taxes."
So this is the deal? Pay for the payroll tax "cut" for just 2 months with a mortgage fee of $17/month for the next TEN years on anyone taking out a mortgage? Robbing "middle class Peter" to pay "middle class Paul"? I'll gladly pay you next Tuesday for a hamburger today. LOL
Sounds like a 10year loan, raising mortgage fees on the middle class for ten years for a 2-month $20/week tax "cut" crumb.
What a joke.
Payroll tax-cut extension adds $17 a month to typical mortgage
Yeah, I guess you can thank the petulant teabaggers for forcing the 2-month compromise... It could have been better, so for that very reason they had to throw a tantrum and block it.
I love it when the teabaggers shoot themselves in the foot, and then cry, "Obama made us do it!!".... Bwaaaaaaaaaaa :faint:
