Good... It may be a lost seat to the GOP, but he was GOP in everything but name anyway... Good riddance....
Good... "Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska announced his retirement from the Senate Tuesday, delivering a serious blow to Democratic efforts to hold on to the majority in the chamber next November."

Wasn't he the one that took the bribe to vote for ObamaCare to get it past cloture before the citizens of Massachusetts selected a replacement for Kennedy? I'm with you for once LJ - good riddance, maybe the folks from Nebraska will get a Senator who is actually representing them instead of a political party this time around.

While losing Nelson in a Red State is no big deal, seven Dem Senators choosing to not seek re-election in 2012 implies that these incumbents are more worried about TEA Party power. If the GOP wins these seats, the Senate will be in Republican hands.
Only 33 senators are up for re-election in 2012, and already seven have thrown in the towel.
Supposedly the local Dems are asking the former Gov. Bob Kerrey (D) to run in Nelson's place. (The good Kerrey! With a real war record and real purple hearts.)
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
It'll be an interesting election year. While I've been maintaining all along the Obama will be re-elected and the GOP will take the House and Senate, I'm not so sure after the payroll tax cut fiasco. We'll just have to wait and see...
I think Obama is going to be reelected (because the GOP field are all unelectable bozos by the general public)...And I think the GOP are going to lose quite a few House seats... Don't know yet about the Senate... But the Dems may pick up a couple there... (If they do, the days of filibustering legislation to purchase toilet-paper for the men's room because it was a Democratic bill, are over...)
"Simply put, it is time to move on," Nelson said in a video message announcing his decision. "I encourage those who will follow in my footsteps to look for common ground and to work together in bipartisan ways to do what's best for the country, not just one political party."
Also too bad it is only lip service from the mouths of Democrats. . . . bipartisan in their minds is when both sides can be bribed to do it their way and this is the only form of bipartisanship they are interested in.
