You are just so partisan, would Romney be really that much different than Obama? Wall Street will still be getting record bonuses no matter who we elect.
The 1%r's will still have all the wealth.
But don't stop believing.

lol No one in southern Europe has the money to start a war. And they don't have the military, spending 1% of GDP on their militaries, what is that, 2 rifles and a land rover?

"December's biggest growth came in transportation, especially courier services that staffed up for the holidays..." and you can include all the retail that staffed up for the holidays and other seasonal part time temporary work force. Right now, this month, retail will be firing thousands of temporary workers, and they will even be laying off thousands of part time workers until business picks up before Easter. This happens ever year... a lot of lower-on-the-seniority-ladder part time retail employees plan for a seasonal layoff every year at this time of year. We have 3 people in our family that are employed at various levels of retail, I know from experience.
So don't count your chickens before they hatch.
is there a site (private or gov't.) that explains the "unemployment rate" that correlates to industries? I guess since most applications or other types of paperwork ask you for multiple questions about race, gender, religion along with others why not start collecting types of previous work/industry to see better data? Just a thought?

you are probably right about th money, but you don't necessarily need military might for a neighbor to jump the fence and slaughter the family next door with knives, clubs, rocks or by hand?
Yea I wouldn't get too excited about the employment numbers just yet. While it is true that we seem to be bottoming out here- the fundamentals have not changed. We still have a massive government that needs to be fed with all the profit this economy generates- plus they are borrowing 2 trillion a year on top of that.
And the government would never "fudge" the employment numbers during an election year would they?
Every year- there is a surge in temporary jobs leading up to Christmas (November and December). And every year those jobs go away in January and Feb. Like I said 30 days ago- I want to see January's numbers, and what we got today was December's numbers. The other factor here that is skewing the numbers is the fact that larger numbers of people are dropping off the employment numbers simply because they have run out of benefits- once that happens- the government counts those people as employed again- and many of them are not employed.
The next 2 months numbers will tell the tale- and maybe the economy is at the bottom- it has to reach a bottom at some point. I think the numbers paint a much more rosy picture than what is the reality.

I was just joking, there is historical precedent for this. Germany was indebted in the 1930's. Hitler came in, refused to pay the debt back and invaded his creditors.

All I remember is someone in the press (or industry) saying a couple of months ago that "no President has been reelected carrying an unemployment rate above 8%" or something like that. The minute I started hearing that stat I knew both the Administration AND the "fair and balanced" press would do everything in their collective power to make sure the numbers dropped to at or below 8% to secure reelection.
Call me cynical, but I'm sure some number crunchers can take the employment stats and make them look good. If you want to know what's really going on with unemployment you need to visit Main Street America and forget about all the BS artists feeding you these stats. JMO.

None of those but Barack "I have no clue about economics or jobs" Obama is running against an unknown. Considering Obama has been horrible, and has no idea how to improve our economy, we are likely better off economically if the unknown wins. We can't be worse off.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
