Courthouse Intellect?

Based on some of the comments posters here make about other posters, do you think people who participate here are smarter than the general population or stupider? Or a good cross sample?

I think people here tend to know more about the world than my coworkers and family but many of them are very smart too but just not concerned about things they can't do much about.

On average, I think the posters here are smarter than the average cross section, but there are some glaring exceptions. One in particular seems to be on a mission to make posting here less enjoyable for everyone in a baldfaced attempt at killing the board. "Ignore" works well for that one...

Your constant nihilistic posts get tiresome, I also ignore your over posting but you are not on "ignore" just a boring loudmouth old fart with nothing interesting to say. Bully, blowhard and control freak comes to mind, where is " Dummy UP" when we need him.

Define smart. There is wise, smart and intelligent. And I have found that some people that are smart in one area of their lives may be miserably dumb in others. This is more complicated than you think.

However, if you have the smarts to keep up discussion in the courthouse you have to have some intelligence, in my mind.

Can we add "informed" to the request for definition? I must say that after reading some of the posts here and in other threads, I've literally had to comb the Internet doing searches and doing my own research to get more informed prior to posting a response. So, for that, I can say "thank you" to posters here on 285Bound.

So the opinion seems to be we are better informed and more curious about our world but not necessarily smarter?
