Just a few quick highlights.
I recommend everyone taking a look at all the bills sitting out there awaiting for your representative’s action.

SENATE BILL 12-015 is another attempt to give illegals low cost in-state tuition.

HOUSE BILL 12-1060 to create a state board of dietitians, do we really need another state board?

SENATE BILL 12-090

The bill includes male circumcision as a physician's service under
Colorado's medicaid program.

Taxpayers should pay for circumcision????

HOUSE BILL 12-1020

For debts less than $5,000, the bill specifies that if any person to
whom money is owed refuses to accept payment in the form of United States currency or coin, the person owing the money, at that person's option, may deduct from the amount owed, or demand from the person to whom the money is owed, a sum covering the cost of obtaining a medium of exchange acceptable to the person to whom the money is owed.

Sounds like a very improtant bill, there must big problem out there with people not accepting cash.

One thing to note, if the leadership assigns the bill to the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs committee, then it is DOA. That is the "kill" committee for bills the leadership does not want debated.

WTH is this? Make my day law for businesses?

The bill extends the right to use deadly force against an intruder
under certain conditions to include owners, managers, and employees of
businesses.

Seems logical that is someone is threatening you, that you can defend. Same with employees, etc. I am pretty sure you could have a case against you if you don't defend them. We put more responsibility on employers than parents.

Also, you can laugh all you want, there is a trend of company's not accepting cash. Now it is nuts to force people to take cash, we should be able to trade using whatever we want. If I only accept credit cards then so be it.

But remember that everything in retail costs 3-5% more because so many people do use cards, us retailers raise our priced because we must pay the exchange fees...and we don't know how you will pay and we signed contracts that we would not upcharge for credit card usage....and then every state backed that up with laws saying that you cannot upcharge for CC usage. When you pay that extra 3.50 to verizon....you are paying a third party so they can get around these contracts and laws. Essentially, by using your card, you add 3-5% to the cost of just about everything. FYI, rewards are payed by the retailers, not the cc companies, so when you use your reward cards, you are raising the price of everything even more.

This might be able to be addressed by pricing things differently. If under $500 the price is $79 charged on a visa card, if you don't want to pay that price, you cannot have the item.

So while I would like the results of the law, more cash purchases, so prices of all goods go down (good idea in a bad economy), this law is not right. If they wanted to address an issue, allow retailers to charge a fee to make a cc purchase, because if they were allowed, most would and prices of everything you buy on the landscape would go DOWN! and the only loosers will be the CC companies.
