George Washington statue is hidden at the MLK rally in SC

"The state chapter of the civil rights group claims it meant no disrespect and only covered up the statue to provide a more suitable backdrop for speakers at Monday's event."

"South Carolina NAACP director Dwight James told The State newspaper that his group was not trying to offend Washington's legacy."

Of course, when you cut and paste without reading the actual article, you run the risk of being made to look foolish by those whose words you took for the truth and posted without reading the article.

But is this just after the incident spin? Or honesty? Sorry if I don't always trust the official take.

I thought about that too... How horrible to cover up the statue of a slave-owner--at a MLK rally..

Actually, this is in the original article, whereas the original post says, "This rally was sponsored by the NAACP and they said that they covered the statue because they "didn't want to offend anyone"." A complete misrepresentation.

You trust the misrepresentation, yet don't trust the official take? Trying to cram what you want to believe into an untrue non-story?

Of course, if you're a teabagger in Tennessee, you'll try to have the textbooks changed to portray his slaves as "happy, satisfied people" and slavery as "benevolent"...

Only if you were a white, money'd, landowner....

But you KNOW how those ol' "Founding Fathers" worked tirelessly--TIRELESSLY , I tell you--to end slavery... (Even John Quincy Adams....and Grover Cleveland...and Warren G. Harding....) I know, because I heard it from Michelle Bachmann...

Do you have a source for that or did you just pull it out of your ass as usual?
