Susan G. Komen & Planned Parenthood?

I'm certainly amused. It isn't SGK who is politicizing the issue of funding anti-life efforts, it is those who disagree with their decision who have chosen to ascribe the actions as solely being taken for political reasons. It couldn't be that the charitable foundation's expressed purpose is the preservation of human life and that their actions are intended to extend that foundational purpose beyond the diagnosing and treating of breast cancer. It couldn't be that the logic of destroying one human life to preserve another was found to be illogical when examined. Just one more example of how exclusive and intolerant the left is of others who hold a different opinion than their own. No surprise at all.

it is the hiding of those intentions. If they want to become an organization that puts those things in front of what they say their actual purpose is, that is fine, but don't try to fool people by their pink ribbons
They will fall away now and loose all the good they were doing because of politics. that is a shame

If they lose the support of the left it will be because the left is punishing them because of the left's politics, not because the foundation itself is political in nature. The purpose of the foundation is to preserve human life, isn't it? Hasn't the purpose of the foundation always been to find a way to save human life? If the only way to cure the cancer in one human life is to destroy another human life has any good truly been done?

I don't think that the attempts to portray their distribution of donations as political will ultimately have an effect upon the success of their fundraising efforts one way or the other. Those with breast cancer will still be interested in helping to find a cure for others so that they needn't go through what they've been through in the future. Those who have lost a loved one will still be ready, willing and able to help raise the money to find a cure so that others won't lose their loved one. Unless, that is, they overlay their political ideology over the top of the purpose for which the foundation exists. If individuals are interested in, as our current chief executive was once heard to promote, punishing their political enemies more so than they are in reducing human suffering I think that says more about the individual than it does the Susan G Komen foundation, don't you?

Hold on, PS...SGK hired a new CEO/VP whatever, who almost immediately announces her opposition to abortion, then chooses to not renew a grant to Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screenings, and you blame the left for politicizing the issue? That's twisted, man.

I may be wrong, but I don't recall SGK ever fighting to protect the lives of death row inmates...so don't bridge the giant gap that cutting off the grant is in line with their mission. They should be concerned with eliminating breast cancer...period...abortion is a completely different issue.

*and you're wrong that the left is not accepting of people with differing opinions...I disagree with you about nearly everything, but I gladly accept you as a neighbor.

And why is it presumed that the failure to renew the grant is a result of opposition to the destruction of human life instead of the stated reason that grants will not be given to organizations currently under investigation by the government?

I have another question for you PV - does Planned Parenthood actually pay for any mammograms with the money they receive from the Susan G Komen foundation? Their clinics do not offer those services, so what, precisely, are the breast cancer screening services that Planned Parenthood provides and are those efforts a cost effective and fiscally responsible way for SGK to disburse the donations they receive? Is it possible, not probable mind you, possible, that if Planned Parenthood is misdirecting other public funds that it might also be misdirecting the funds from others who bestow grants upon the organization? And given this possibility, does it not make sense to hold accountable Planned Parenthood for how the funds donated by SGK are used as well?

No, PV, it was not the right that politicized this decision by SGK - it was the left and Planned Parenthood who decided to attribute the temporary halting of grants to Planned Parenthood while its financial conduct was under investigation solely to politics in the hopes of creating the very circus that resulted. Extortion, plain and simple, is the only accurate way of describing what occurred in the wake of the decision to halt the grants until the results of the investigation into the financial conduct of Planned Parenthood were reached. From the outset SGK made it clear that if Planned Parenthood was cleared of financial misconduct that the grants would be resumed; that their grants to Planned Parenthood, and the halting of those grants, had no political basis. It was Planned Parenthood that decided it was political and the left who presumed such to be the case absent any facts to sustain the charge.

BS, PS. Komen hired a rabid pro-lifer. Funny how the funding suddenly stopped, professed to be because of an investigation. Of course we all believe in coincidences--NOT. Funny, too, how "grants would be resumed" turns into, "at the time, that was our plan but we don't have the funds to resume that grant." Seen it before and bet it would happen again.

Interesting how the right always latches onto the abortion part of Planned Parenthood and negelects to mention the rest of what it does. Employees cost money, PS. Those counselors who work with women to get screening and further treatment if necessary are paid and get benefits such as, OMG, healthcare. That's where some of the money goes.

No, the purpose of the foundation is to fight breast cancer... If you want to go off on one of your predictable, irrelevant extrapolation tangents, that's your problem.

It is amazing how the liberals have been able to understand the motivation and hidden agenda of people and groups. They seem to assign the underlying thought, motivations, and intents even though none has been expressed by the groups.

I applaud your insight in the hidden agenda of the Susan G Komen group.

Thank you... Sorry it's so obvious that you can't see it, even with the proof rubbed in your face.

List the proof in a numerical list and we will consider it.
