The Office of Congressional Ethics is investigating the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee over possible violations of insider-trading laws, according to individuals familiar with the case.
Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), who holds one of the most influential positions in the House, has been a frequent trader on Capitol Hill, buying stock options while overseeing the nation’s banking and financial services industries.
The Office of Congressional Ethics, an independent investigative agency, opened its probe late last year after focusing on numerous suspicious trades on Bachus’s annual financial disclosure forms, the individuals said. OCE investigators have notified Bachus that he is under investigation and that they have found probable cause to believe insider-trading violations have occurred.
You can hear the surprise in *MY* voice... (We'll pause for a couple of minutes here so "Fred" can Google a "Democrats did it too" example to use in a sentence....Surely there must have been something back around 1947...?)
I thought Congress exempted themselves from having to follow insider trading. Refer to the stories earlier this year showing how quickly even the non-millionaires in the House and Senate aquire wealth after getting elected.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
So, are you suggesting that if they exempted themselves then it's a "non-issue"? Gee, I guess that would be the teabagger approach to it, wouldn't it? Unless it results in a conviction, then it doesn't count...(unless, of course, it's a Dem--then it's a hanging offense...)
if he is guilty, they should send him packing, same thing that should have happened to Rangel, the problem we have is that it does not matter what party, seems they only get slap on the wrist and told go back to work, they should be kicked out, no pension nothing.
Or Bachus must be much more blatant than most of these crooks? As a part time investor, I would love to know which companies are going to gain from new taxes and regulations before Wall Street does. Or even write laws and hand out checks to companies they may own, like Solyandra.

1947? rofllol You should do stand up.
I have said it several times before but it has been a while so I will say it again. I want to thank you for being such a strong spokesperson for rational people to abandon the progressive movement.
LJ doesn't care about democrat criminals, only reps.
I support the STOCK act. Applies equally to all. Unlike LJ, I don't like congress living under laws we don't live in.
Oh, and if you really are against insider trading LJ, Check out a few more who have made lots of money from their knowledge. Both parties, but since you won't investigate for criminal dems...let me get you started. First name, Nancy.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

LJ can't see that the problem is shared by both parties because the Huffington/Washington posts only write about the republicans. Everything else is just garbage reporting.

Are you nuts?...What makes you think I don't support the STOCK Act?...Much less any other act that would let Congress have a different set of rules than the public? What turnip-truck did you fall off of?

Yes, just like the Righties cherry-pick the ones about Dems only... Gee, when was the last time I saw one of the teabaggers post something about a corrupt Republican...
