If we keep regulating everthing, and paying high prices for these regulations, and then paying higher prices because there is little competition and then we have to raise taxes like crazy because we want more regulations and we also have not paid for the last 60 years of regulations and thus must pay for the loans we took out to regulate everything because it would all be better.....we better get much more open to new and different kinds of marrages being ok. We already gave up mom or dad being at home to pay for this crap so that the "kids have better lives", now we have two wage earners and that does not seem to be enough to cover all the regulations as of 2008....and somehow the kids have no jobs...and no more rights. We need to come up with a new type of marriage that can allow for 3 wage earners and given the pace of this type of debate, we better shoot for 5 way marrages because by the time we get the new marrage laws passed, there will be so many regs that you will need 5 earners to cover the costs of the new wonderful world we regulated ourselves into.
The reason our power grid and distribution looks the same as it did about 100 years ago...is because that is right about when we started to regulate it......without these regs things might have got worse, before they got better. Without these regs, you would likely have the right to share a solar array with your neighbor, have local power plants with much lower costs (70% of power is lost in the lines before you get it, but that is only half your bill....the other half is transmission, and since the power plant is far away, this cost is high, essentially only about 30% of 50% of the bill is what you actually get in value, the rest is due to the regs not allowing us to come up with local group solns, you only alterative is off grid - one house on it's own, legally anyway)...and as you likely know, you cannot do this, because you gave up your right to transmit power accross property lines to the local utility.
The consumers and the power companies would have worked this out, just like you work out buying an apple at the grocery, even though there is some logic that says that we don't need 1000 different companies selling apples in CO. She states that part of the reason they regulated was because prices were going below costs (she did not agree with this, but stated it as one of the drivers)....as if this would not have worked itself out...as if we may not have electricity in homes today because the companies competed themselves all out of business. There were no apples in CO before there was demand...and now there are many apples and apple sellers, I am talking about real apples, not the one's invented by the black box phone hacker dead dude.
