I don't need to approve of Whitneys lifestyle to appreciate her great gift of a superb voice. I am saddened for the loss of what she was and what she might have been. I wonder if sometimes being given such a gift of talent means that other areas of her life did not get the attention they deserved. She put her heart and soul into song, perhaps there was nothing left over for personal responsibility and understanding.
I question those who would say the loss of such talent is not worth our sadness and sorrow....are they so perfect? Are they such stellar human beings that they have the right to judge? The very fact that she brought joy to many people, brought music to life, inspired many singers who admired her talent and worked hard to foster their own ......... is worth celebrating.

Here... I may not of been classy in my comment, but the Obama administration is saying the same thing...
White House drug czar says Whitney Houston's death is a 'teachable moment'
Kerlikowske, the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, said Houston’s passing puts a spotlight on the issue of prescription drug use. The superstar had opened up about in past interviews admitting to problems with substance abuse, however the Los Angeles County coroner however has still not ruled on the cause of her death. …
The nation’s top drug-policy enforcer told CBS that this type of drug use affects a “huge number” of people throughout the country and causes deaths in “very, very high numbers.”
“They’re coming right out of our medicine cabinets and yet these drugs are as addictive and dangerous as any other drug,” he added.
Kerlikowske said that Houston’s struggles with substance abuse highlight the fact that the issue spans all demographics and socioeconomic barriers. …
“We can use this a moment to help people understand and remember that there are literally billions of Americans suffering from this problem,” he said.
My comments "Most of her life was a poster child for what you shouldn't do to your body and mind." is spot on... just a little more street wise in tone. Excuse me for being so direct... AND RIGHT.

The damn dog was probably a conservative, liberals are always having to save their butts.....and how do they thank us? by biting the head off the next person that gets close to them.
What is brown and comes in a box on valentine's day? Whitney Houston? Too soon? Ok, back on topic, two of the biggest drug deaths lately have been Houston and Michael Jackson, both presumed to be legal, prescription drugs. A new study say twice as many people are dying from prescription painkiller like oxygen than heroin and cocaine.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
