That was me, I reverse connected my Toyota Prius and Chevy volt to the grid for backup, and I heard a big pop. Sorry. :)

Now Red goes to Negative, and Black to Positive right? What is this green wire for?

It lasted just a few seconds but it shut down everything, the computers, satalites and X-Boxes all went down...

Me too, it was about 10 sec.

I figure if I rev up my Chevy volt to 8000 rpm I can power the whole 285 corridor. I'm heading up to the roof now with my jumper cables. Its 155 VDC connecting to 240 VAC 60 Hz, but I don't think that matters. Be right back (I hope) :)

Invest in solar power and a generator/battery backup system. Never trust the man!

I remember the last time I didn't have power....it was about 1 second before I energized my inverter back in 2007 or so. Loosing power seems so last century.

$5? ...Park County just gutted the wide open Park (are rare environment all together) with miles of high tension power lines....right over Ute summer camping grounds and artifacts, but to make sure that the view was still nice from the road and expensive ranches ....they plowed them right through two off grid subdivisions and dozens of homes, get this away from the road where the lines belong, no service drops for the local homes who's owners lifestyles got crapped on. Just a local power tale for those that ask for such things to be built (VL, etc.). The park is just about ruined from any view at this point....hundreds of square miles. Barely a mention of it. ..and you want $5 for 10 seconds loss of American Idle and 285bound?
