"WASHINGTON—The national commander of America’s largest and oldest major combat veterans’ organization is urging the entire military and veterans’ community to “Join the Fight” to stop the Defense Department from penny-pinching service members to the point of dismantling the all-volunteer force. It will change the nature of volunteers, but I am betting a large percentage of people who join up don't plan on getting their 20 years in.
BTW, I am betting these proposed changes will be defeated. Ex-military are a strong voting block especially in certain districts like Co. Springs.

The majority of people don't. I did not. It just snuck up on me.

Veteran's benefits as well as active-duty benefits have been eroding for a long time. It is an easy target.
I do not see more benefits that cost money being added anytime soon...they'll talk about benefits such as the gym and the commissary and exchanges and going overseas and seeing the world and the experiences and for active-duty base housing (which in most cases is substandard from civilian housing)...not about medical or dental or any kind of monetary compensation or adding personnel to make the disability request get through the system faster.
