John Stossel argues that America has become a country where no one can know what is legal.
Kids who open lemonade stands are now shutdown by police. Stossel tries to open a lemonade stand legally in NYC. That was quite an adventure. It takes 65 days to get permission from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
With government adding 80,000 pages of rules and regulations every year, it’s no surprise that regular people break laws without even trying.
A small businessman spent 6 years in federal prison for breaking Honduran regulations (and, to make it worse, the Honduran government said he didn’t). A family in Idaho can’t build a home on their land because the EPA says it’s a wetland—but it only resembles a wetland because a government drain malfunctioned and flooded it.".............................................
Right, and most of us will do nothing but bitch about it, and it will get worse. Most people actually call their leaders and ask for this crap because we have set up govt as the only viable solution to ANYTHING.
If you want this to slow down, vote for Paul. If you want it to keep going, vote for anyone else.
Or you could be a real patriot and not accept silly laws. But your neighbors won't be ok with that.
Can I ask, how many people, if they were there, would have started dancing with them? I don't think that I could have not danced. If you would not have danced, you know why we have so many laws. No one on average resists.
I am not suggesting you do so, because you will be punished according to the law...the full extent of it.
I like laws for extreme safety stuff...but dancing? Didn't they make a movie about this with Kevin Bacon?
The wife was watching this stupid show called "parking wars". They were busting drivers using very arcane rules, but this is nothing compared to all the bureaucracy we have these days. Must cause entrepenuers to regret ever opening.
