per the Denver Post & 9 News today, people are using their welfare ATM cards at strip club, casinos and liquor stores. Letting their children suffer while they get their drunk on, etc. Welfare benefits are small enough and then to waste them at casinos and strip clubs. Such a shame.

Sounds like cash withdrawals should be limited or prohibited. Isn't that the purpose of a debit card? So you don't have to carry cash? Debit cards are accepted almost everywhere now, and it would discourage questionable purchases if they were documented. Also, the banks are really raking in the fees on 80% of the ATM withdrawals being out of network according to the 9news story. I guess you don't bother to go out of your way when its free money. I avoid those fees like the plague.

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

Last time I checked, those casino ATM fees are close to usury.

And you figure the fraud is worse than this, because people could be getting their money withdrawn at Kings and going to the liquor store next door.

It would be nice for goverment to control this a little better, but I really wish these people would use the benefits for healthy food, rent, important things instead of strippers, gambling, and booze.

Who is responsible for welfare fraud anyway? Here in the Denver area, people can get tickets for letting your car run in the driveway unattended. That's because there are always thieves in every corner and under every rock waiting to rip someone off. So if I don't do my best to keep my car from being stolen, I get punished for it. Now if the government allows theft of my tax dollars, I should just suck it up and not worry about it. Shouldn't we hold our government to the same standards as we would expect of ourselves?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I heard a version of this but it concerned Irishmen and alcohol.

Yeah, I changed it a little to better apply to the current thread.
