911 Forgets To Dispatch Police

Here's a nice little story about how "responsive" the Police can be - just when you need then the most. I laugh everytime I read one of these...

Here's to all those who trust their local government services!

DENVER, Colo. -- Don Frei and his wife, Debbie, did what many of us would do if someone was breaking into our home. The couple called 911 but police never showed up.

No big deal- right? I hear the Denver Police don't even respond to car break-in's- and many other crimes these days- instead they will direct you to a website if you want to make a complaint.

"There was a guy just on the other side of the door, pounding on the door, screaming, cursing and trying to break into our house," said Don Frei.
The attempted break-in occurred in November. Just before 5 a.m. a man began yelling in the couple's back yard, waking the family from a dead sleep.
"My three children by this point have been woken up and are screaming and crying, and I'm like, 'Get somebody here now! This guy is trying to break into my house.'"

This is why I don't dial 911- (and this is why they invented 12 gauge magnum 000 buck shot).

Call records show police were dispatched eight minutes after Frei called 911, but police never made contact with the family.

Police records show there were available units in the area at the time of the call and officers could have been dispatched.

But wait- the story gets even better!

CALL7 Investigators found Denver 911 received 24 complaints from citizens or police officers about Denver 911 not dispatching in a timely fashion.

Then- this guy goes down and files a complaint with the police for not showing up....

And what happens? They lose the complaint! What complaint?

After conducting an internal investigation, Franssen found that complaint never made it to his desk. He wrote in an email: (note: Mr. Frei's name is misspelled in the email.)

"Mr. Frie went to the District Three sub-station on November 20, 2012 (sic) to make a complaint about Denver Police Department’s response to his home. District Three Officers correctly evaluated their portion of the response and referred Mr. Frie to Denver 911 for further questions.

In other words- they gave him the "brush off". I have experienced this type of "customer service" myself at DPD.

Regrettably, at this point Denver 911 failed to provide Mr. Frie with adequate customer service. The Operations Supervisor advised Mr. Frie that Denver Police Officers responded to his house and then referred Mr. Frie to the Denver Police Department’s website to make a “formal complaint.”

Regrettably- this could have cost this citizen his life- my advise- next time - forget about 911, don't depend on government to do what you can do for yourself!

Insure yourself and you're family with a "12 gauge magnum" policy.

I know one Denver resident who the police have put on ignore. A little too much cry wolf. She will call if someone is filling her dumpster or smoking in her alley, etc.

So maybe the original callers had used up their quota?

Have to laugh at BearMtn's license plate.

I'm happy when I'm regular but I wouldn't go putting on my license plate.

A big furry alarm system is often helpful in deterring loonies from coming onto your property. But remember that the law may view your dog a lot like like the firearms you have in your home, you need to be in control of them at all times.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
