The NFL Stands Down

The NFL originally planned to play their first game of the season on Thursday, the night of Obama's big speech at the Democrat's national convention, instead, they moved the football to Wednesday.

 If they had kept it the same, would you be more likely to watch the speech, or the game, or something else? Personally conventions seemed to have outlived their usefullness, everyone knows who will win the nomination anymore. Mainly just a big party for the base.

I'd definitely watch the football game. I'm caring less and less about what any politicians say in their speeches.

It comes as no surprise many would find football more important than than the business of electing a new president...I'd probably watch football too if one of the teams I follow were playing. I can't help but ask the question though....would you be posting this if it were the Republican nominee who might have been preempted? Be honest...if Obama got to speak but football was on the same night as the Republican nominee would you be OK with that??

Honestly? I won't be watching the Republican nominee's convention speech either.

But the more important question, will the Jersey Shore postphone their show so Obama's followers won't have to make a tough choice?

Watching the National Felons League or Obama's marketing speech.....That's a tough one. Each one is dreadfully dull, overhyped, and little more than a commercial.

I probably enjoy each of them about as much as being jabbed in the eye with a burning, pointed stick.

I'd say that the American Presidency is more of an institution than football.

 And the lying of Presidential nominees in thier stump speeches is another long running institution.

It would be fun to go through Obama's original speech in Denver and see how little he failed to do, and what promises were out & out lies.

Personally, I think they should all be institutionalized.

Good point - there probably is little the President's failed to do. Glad you're coming around to respecting Obama's effectiveness.
