I'm getting tired of religious organizations that get involved in political activities.
All section 501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate running for public office. The prohibition applies to all campaigns (federal, state and local level).

In some ways this election is more important than the last for our community. If we fail to re-elect President Obama, some people will say everything we’ve accomplished since 2008 was a fluke. Working in your individual capacity, you’ll reach out to key community members and mobilize your personal networks with house parties and other outreach activities, as well as provide assistance in conducting voter registration drives.
Why according to Obama... in the church. This is no better than Pat Robertson rallying his religious organization for Bush. I'm hoping that the IRS is ready to pull the tax exempt status from a lot of churches over the next year. This shouldn't be allowed.
I'm all in favor of keeping the churches and religion out of the political process....but I'm not sure there is much anyone can do about church members organizing and getting involved. Are you looking to ban church members from speaking to other church members about their choice of candidate? Sounds good to me
Probably OK to have organizing after services in the parking lot, but organised church sponsored phone banks or mailings would be a little over the top.
