This is from last Friday's edition of The Flume. It shows how government (in this case Park County) is wasteful. I doubt many people view Park Counties website for this type of thing. A full page ad in The Flume could have got them tens of thousands more. Congrats Mr. Montgomery for seeing this, shame on Park County for letting this happen.
Edward L. Montgomery was the highest bidder on two county-owned parcels. The commissioners approved the sales for $505 each.
The parcels were put out for bid earlier this year on the county’s website, which included the following note: “THIS IS NOT A TAX SALE – MINIMUM PRICE IS ASSESSOR’S “ACTUAL” VALUE OR “BEST OFFER.” He bought them for $505 each.
One is located at 33 Wagon Wheel Road in Western Union Ranch, filing 3, lot 276. The five-acre parcel was valued at $16,985 by the Assessor’s Office.
Western Union is now called Ranch of the Rockies. It is south of U. S. 24 just east of U. S. 285.
The other lot bought by Montgomery is located in Foxtail Pines, filing 1, lot 118. Foxtail Pines is about two miles southwest of Fairplay. The three-acre lot is valued at $48,750 by the Assessor’s Office.
