In a sense, the Republicans made a pact with the devil. They sold their political soul to the hatred of the government devil, in return for dominance in American politics. The Republicans demonized government and the liberals. And no one clearly denounces the Republican Party for being virtual anarchists -- always promising tax cuts and to hell with government functioning. Actually, there is a method to the madness of the Republicans. They claim that government is bad and so taxes have to be cut, then government functioning does indeed become bad in many areas because of the lack of funding, and then the Republican use the damage (that they caused) as evidence that government is no good. It because a destructive cycle with the government getting worse and the public becoming more and more cynical.
The conservative emphasis on hatred of government is very attuned with racism. Racism encourages hatred and hatred of government, especially a pro-Civil Rights government, is very compatible with racism. The forces of Republican, Southern, and born-again Christian racism and moralism reinforces each other in a blend of very nasty, vindictive rhetoric.

Sociology is inadequate in that it is a politically liberal approach that does not recognize that it works within a racist system and, therefore, is inadequate by itself to change that racist system. The discipline continues to refuse to consider racism as a much more serious structural problem.

Critical race theory (CRT) is an academic discipline focused upon the application of critical theory, a neo-Marxist examination and critique of society and culture, to the intersection of race, law, and power. According to the UCLA School of Public Affairs: CRT recognizes that racism is engrained in the fabric and system of the American society. The individual racist need not exist to note that institutional racism is pervasive in the dominant culture. This is the analytical lens that CRT uses in examining existing power structures. CRT identifies that these power structures are based on white privilege and white supremacy, which perpetuates the marginalization of people of color.[1]

None of the conservatives I know have even the slightest racist thought. Not sure where they come up with this junk.

I refuse to recognize the attempt by the supporters of CRT to redefine racism to include their push for white guilt, also known as systemic racism. It's a crock of crap.

I'm not sure if you're right. I would like some of the liberals on 285 to chime in and explain this better to me.
Off and on, as I have have aged, I have wondered if all my apparent openness to people of all cultures and races is just self-delusion. I've had black and Hispanic girlfriends, my wife of almost 15 years was Spanish and Pueblo Indian, there has been other mixed race (and culture) marriages in my family and I have experience living among a number of different cultures in Europe.
But I read these theories and I start questioning my motives. Maybe deep down inside of me there is a hidden racist who secretly attempts to keep the minorities in their place, unconsciously taking advantage of minorities... all with a smile on my face. It's a serious subject and something that all white people (especially conservative white people) need to consider.

I'm sure I'm right.
The liberals can rant and rave all they want about the party of racism. They've got no logical proof, no firm basis upon which to base their inflamatory claims. Once again, it's just some lefty spouting off a bunch of crap meant to try and make their opposition look worse than they are, rather than trying to lift temselves up to actually BE better than their opposition.
I doubt you'll get any liberal takers on this one - even they can smell this a mile away and don't want to get any of it on their sandals.
