Our nation depends on reliable road systems across all the states. If you give the money to the states one or more may decide that they would rather build a bridge to nowhere rather than maintain the interstate. I'm not against state rights, but we are still one nation, and the states are interdependent. Food, oil, gas, even Amazon depend on getting their goods to the consumers. Take away one state in the middle who thinks they would rather spend their highway funds paving all their local roads and not the interstate and the system starts to break down.
And seriously.......do you all think that we shouldn't be building new and safer roads to replace some of the older and unsafe roads? Is America going to be satisfied with what it has and never build anything new and better? When did we stick our collective heads in the sand and decide that we have all the infrastructure we need and now we can just maintain it (until it crumbles I guess)
Don't even get me started on our antiquated rail system.

You don't remember?
Well shouldn't he have read the thread before he posted on it? He made a dam fool of himself

Hey VL, don't chase the new posters away. Welcome Mary Scott! Keep posting!
So VL, you started this thread. What is your solution ol' wise one? We spend 100s of billions on Transportation, I'm ok with public spending on roads. What is your point? How about a solution instead of the standard copy and paste whine and moan? Neither party has the Kahunas to raise the gas tax to correct for the higher gas mileage efficiency. Adjust the gas per gallon tax for the current situation, its pretty obvious. I'd be ok with it.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Cut defense spending and redirect the money towards things we can actually use, like roads and bridges
Problem Sloved!
"Neither party has the Kahunas" Joe
Really Joe? Its not all that money the defense contractors give them? You're like a babe in the woods Joe- They got balls, they got enough balls big enough to sell us out to the highest bidder, that takes balls...Thier greedy

Wake up F- up Cinderella!
How about we cut entitlements so those going to work, instead of those going to social services, can extend the life of their vehicles?
