I reccomend changing your withholding. The one thing I do know about taxes is making an interest free loan to the gov. is bad business.

NC and SC, I can see why you would want an accountant if you have a real business return, with lots of expenses, and possible unique credits or deductions. They really know what to look for. Mine is a sole prop. with strictly labor income and no expenses, so its really simple.

The tricky part of a business is doing quarterly estimates, hard to know how much to pay.

We did have less withheld, but had no idea what to expect with newly owning a business (granted we expected a loss so we'd have a lot to deduct, but wanted to err on the side of caution). I'll have to sit down with you sometime and see how you've adjusted yours over the years.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

Some more than others. I think our first accountant was geared to personnel returns. 2 or 3 years into the business I joined a referral group that had an accountant. Since I never refer anyone that I am not personally comfortable with I had her review our returns as a test. We ended up filing amended returns for those years that were worth thousands.

Based on the amount of taxes I am paying again this year...it appears I am fairly well off. I must be one of the ones the left is going after eh? Sorry but I just don't see it.

Well I'd like to chat more but I really must get back to the salt mines here as I have taxes to pay. rofllol

Based on what I paid, I did fairly well too..and I AM one of the ones the "left" is going after... I guess the difference is I'm one of those that doesn't begrudge paying my fair share to have the kind of society I want, instead of whining about every penny I have to pay.

I had mine done back in February, (as I always do), since I want that refund check right away, and procrastinating doesn't make it any better. And, as usual, I had to go to H&R Block because I had to file 4 separate state-returns in addition to the Federal, and it's gotten too complicated to try to do myself.

But let the whining continue...

Yes, in the eyes of the liberal....trying to hold on to YOUR money is whining. I can't see how any liberal can fathom even accepting a refund. If a--holes could fly, this place would be an airport....and LJ would be port authority.

I think you should donate that refund to the utopian society you seek LJ. Talk is cheap...or as they say, "money talks and BS walks." rofllol
