Identification: It’s Good For Everything Except Voting
PJTV’s Scott Ott carries out an entertaining undercover investigation: he goes to the offices of several groups that denounce voter identification laws as unconstitutional suppression of minority votes, etc., and tries to get in to see someone. Sure enough: they all require identification, including the Department of Justice, which has sued to invalidate voter identification laws. You have a constitutional right to petition for redress of grievances, but if you want to see Eric Holder or anyone else at the the Department of Justice to explain your grievance, you need a photo ID.
As we noted here, perhaps the ultimate instance of this hypocrisy was when Eric Holder went to the LBJ Library in Texas to rail against that state’s voter ID law, which DOJ sued to invalidate shortly thereafter. Sure enough: you couldn’t get in to see Holder denounce identification requirements as racist unless you had a photo ID.
Wrong. Though I appreciate you pointing out the conflict.
The ID helps people get found when, not if, they do something wrong. That is why there is a numbered tag on the back of your car and why those in support of voter ID laws are actually taking the first step towards when that ID will be on your back or when you have to go in and complete your biometric scan with the state (if you are in CO you already gave them your finger print, would you let them scan your eye or probe your cavities if they required if for a license - my guess is you would bend right over - all they have to do is tell you it is in your best interest).
So the concept of this new socialist ID craze is that when people go to see Eric Holder there is a more likely chance that someone will want to hurt him (they have been reading the boards) than someone at a voter booth getting hurt. Right now, with the crazy ID folks getting worked up about controlling every aspect of everything (like the other party that is only slightly different), the biggest risk to someone at the polls is that a crazy ID freak will shoot him.
If there is a bunch of voter fraud, I will remind you that the two choices you are voting on are not actually different, so the fraud, even though it tastes bad, does not matter that much in this case....if it is even happening - because this is just a bunch of hype to get "conservatives" to give up their freedom principals (and boy is it working, haha, but we are on a roll with that trend).
If you want to stop this crazy ID trend, just stop providing it when you have not done anything wrong. But you won't do that, you will be too busy looking at your ankles.
