There is a great www site (RU PISSED) that has a calculator to derermine when you ecceed the legal limits for DUI/DWAI (In CO those are .05/.08) with sex, weight, height, number of various drinks and time (over time) as inputs. Very informative. Examples:
1. A 5ft 6in lady weighing 118 lbs who has four small glasses (or two large glasses) of wine or two pints of ale over two hours is legally drunk in CO. Based on BAC calculator.
2. A 5ft 9in male weighing 160 lbs who has three mixed drings over two hours is legally drunk in CO. Based on BAC calculator.
Limit the bar visits and consumption accordingly
best to buy and sit at home. BTW for a very reasonable price (less than $200 delivered) on the www site an excellent portable (pocket size) breath test instrument can be purchased. This is probably a good investment for the happy hour participant (hundreds of thousands in the front range).
Found this site awhile back, it's a good calculator with oz and percent. Lots of beers are 5-6% and higher now days, its very easy to get above .05 2-beers for most people.
I think Colorado and CA are the only states with a .05 law. Be careful out there!

One reason I think marijuana isn't as bad as alcohol is that stoners tend to stay home and partake as opposed to driving to places purpose built to get you inebriated.
But imagined if it was legalized, would DQ start offering the ganja flavored Peanut Buster Parfait? The local movie theatre selling hashish brownies. Might make the film funnier.
Back on topic, when going out for a beer, one of the only times I like being overweight, I can have one with very little effect.

Yeah, Dude, but then they take their wheels on an ultimate road-quest to snag the most righteous cure for the munchies.............or something like that.....or so I'm told.
Good point about the road munchies. When I hung around with college stoners, none of us had cars so we would have to walk through the Burger King drive-thru after closing hours if they got the munchies.

Isn't the local issue that you can get caught driving drunk and you only get a slap on the wrist? If there is debate as to how much is too much, seems logical to pick the lowest number and lower it a little more, people can party at home, if you want to party in your car, I have no issues with you going to jail, except that you might come out as even more of a criminal.
I know a number of people that have been caught over 3 times and they are still not locked in a box. I cannot name all the people I know in the Fairplay area that have had DUIs. I know folks from Durango and they say there it is so common, it is considered a right of passage, they even brag about some national statistics about how they are the most drunk or the most caught at duis or something.
You are right, alcohol is a local issue, Colorado is full of freaking drunked out loosers (easy to ID by those walking out of the liquor store or bar) and the police are trying to stop this group of degenerates from hurting other families. If less people drive drunk, less people will die and the cops can get home on time and get drunk.
Why not just put it to zero tolerance like pot and driving? Wouldn't hurt anyone and would help many. I know, I know, everyone's additicted to this drug, so we will tolerate it even if it kills more on our roads every two months than the terrorists of 9/11. I repeat, drunk drivers in the US have killed about 60-100 times as many people since 9-11 as the terrorists....and look at how we reacted to that. Makes 0.5 look like a giveaway, you could have ended up in Gitmo if we treated drunk drivers the way we treat others that do as much damage to the good ol' USA (you know killing citizens and all).
I say screw drunks and lock them up where they belong.
Haha, just kidding, wanna go downtown and have a beer at the DUI entrapment center (aka the bar)....Wahoo.
Oh yeah and good point on the road munchies, it distracted me from thinking of the few people that have died from drunk drivers in this country SINCE THIS THREAD WAS STARTED. It's kinda nice to be distracted from all the real bad stuff.
