The Great California Exodus
A leading U.S. demographer and 'Truman Democrat' talks about what is driving the middle class out of the Golden State.
Geez I hope they are not coming this way. Then again maybe they will buy some houses or settle in Boulder.
I have a friend in northern California and he says they have about had it living there.
Nearly four million more people have left the Golden State in the last two decades than have come from other states. This is a sharp reversal from the 1980s, when 100,000 more Americans were settling in California each year than were leaving. According to Mr. Kotkin, most of those leaving are between the ages of 5 and 14 or 34 to 45. In other words, young families.

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Not surprised. Like Obuma, California has been busy giving out freebies using taxpayers dollars and now they have to keep raising taxes to pay for it. I'd abandon Ca too.

“When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex. Only whit man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” Indian Chief Two Eagles
Don't like it, don't like it at all. It would be one thing if it was true blue conservatives moving to Colorado, but it is instead indoctrinated people who will try to californicate Colorado.
Bye, bye, Red State.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
I think its too late already, Colorado has already gone over the edge. Tabor is the only thing standing between the Dems and fiscal disaster for our state. And they will get around to "fixing" that soon.

Yup - I'm afraid you're right. :VeryScared:
Remember that bumper sticker: "Welcome to Colorado! Now go home."

My father moved his young family- and his corporation- out of the state of California and to Colorado in the mid 70's. He saw the problem way back then and got out. He knew that in order to grow the business and prosper and hire more people that he needed a business friendly economic environment. He knew we needed a better place to raise his kids in order to give us the best chance to suceed.
Only he knew why he did it, and did not come to Colorado wanting and expecting the government to be the answer to everything.
Many people leaving Cali today know they need to get to get out- but they don't seem to realize why- and when they get here they continue to vote for politicians who advocate for the same policies that created the poisonous economic environment that forced them to leave in the first place.
They come here and re-create the same conditions as those that they just got done fleeing from. So the problem follows them wherever they go.
The attraction was lower property and sales taxes, smaller- more limited local governments, fewer regulations, and a higher standard of living for the same pay scale.
And yes- we have been Californiacated- it's a shame because this used to be better place than it is today. But the Californians keep coming here- because it's still better than back there as Cali keeps getting worse.
Then they get here and commence to screwing it all up- just like home.
We just got through working on a trailer from CA, the people are repubs. I asked them what took them so long to get out of there.
They laughed and said they had to wait till their property was worth 0 to finally leave.

Your avatar is a California Jewish actor who plays a Mexican in commercials, BTW. Not what he claims to be.
