I vote no, It will just shift sales, cause crowds, and lower needed revenues. I wonder how difficult it is for retailers to change the transactions, is there a sales tax over-ride on the register?
Shoppers wouldn't have to pay state sales tax on back-to-school items under a bill that's moving through the legislature despite criticism from the left and right that it's a political gimmick.

Gimmick but it might help retail and ironically the state. People could get into a feeding frenzy and buy non-tax free items so the state could see a increased tax take that month.
