The boss of Spirit Airlines isn't about to cave in to a dying former Marine, and he doesn't lose sleep knowing his company leads the industry when it comes to customer complaints, he told FoxNews.com.
All that over a request for a refund of $197.00, I will cut the guy a check out my personal account. On top of it they just increased their fee for carry on bags to $100.00:
Baldanza, 50, has staked his company's model for success on "unbundling" services. Customers pay extra for each additional service or amenity, including a new policy unveiled this week in which they will pay $100 for carry-on bags that go in overhead bins.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I often get passionate for a moment and see things clearly (like you did), but then sometimes don't follow up on my passion, did you in this case?
If so, PM me your address (or the location of a rock we can both find) I will reimburse you part of it, I support the fact that you actually took action, unlike most when they complain.
You realize boycotts don't work right, because people don't base their shopping on morals, and people don't research firms before they buy, if they did, there would be no Tea Party or OWS or many other groups going do where.
The Spirit CEO has some cojones. He said that the vet could have bought a $14 insurance policy. BTW Fox News and others have given money to the cancer stricken vet and he has chosen to forward the donations to Wounded Warrior fund. Good for him.

Spirit bows to pressure: Airline CEO to refund dying veteran's fare
Dying Vietnam veteran Jerry Meekins is getting his money back from Spirit Airlines' tightfisted boss after all.
After a week of criticism from veterans around the nation, Spirit CEO Ben Baldanza issued a statement Friday afternoon saying he would personally refund Meekins' $197 airfare, and that the discount carrier would make a $5,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
"He called me personally, and I'm going to take him at his word," Meekins told FoxNews.com. "He was apologetic and said he'd made a mistake."
The move was a sharp reversal for Baldanza, who as recently as Thursday had stubbornly refused to refund the cancer-stricken Marine's money, even though Meekins' doctor told him he could not fly.
And if Baldanza has been the recipient of numerous donations because of this, I think he should be able to keep the extra money and do something for himself with it.
Spirit Airlines refunds dying veteran By Rebecca Ruiz
Spirit Airlines has decided today to reverse a controversial decision it made in April and is refunding the airfare purchased by Jerry Meekins, a dying veteran who could not use his ticket.
Meekins recently purchased a ticket from the airline to visit his daughter in New Jersey. "Two weeks after I bought the ticket, I found out I was terminal," Meekins, a Vietnam veteran, told NBC affiliate WFLA-TV in Tampa, Fla.
Meekins says his doctors advised him not to fly. But when he asked Spirit Airlines for a refund, they refused.
When contacted by WFLA-TV at the time, Spirit Airlines issued this statement: "Our reservations are non-refundable, which means we don't do refunds and we are not going to issue Mr. Meekins a refund."
The airline also said that it offers low-cost travel insurance that covers a variety of unexpected circumstances and added, "It wouldn't be fair to bend the policy for one and not for all."
Ben Baldanza, the airline's CEO, said in a statement released today, "In my statements regarding Mr. Meekins' request for a refund, I failed to explain why our policy on refunds makes Spirit Airlines the only affordable choice for so many travelers, and I did not demonstrate the respect or the compassion that I should have, given his medical condition and his service to our country."
In addition to refunding Meekins, the airline is donating $5,000 to the Wounded Warriors, a charity designated by the veteran.

Wow, you just ooze compassion. What do you do for fun? Smash baby ducks in to a pulp with your bare hands?
The guy is dying from cancer and was advised by his Doctor not to fly after he bought the ticket. What if this guy was just another Joe six pack instead of a Marine in the same circumstances? I bet you'd be griping about corporate greed and posting all kinds of bile about what a horrible company Spirit Airlines is.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
