We are out of Iraq and we will soon be largely out of Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden is dead, and al Qaeda is a shadow of its former self. Threats remain but these are being handled using special forces and intelligence. So, finally, after a decade, we seem to be right-sizing the threat from terrorist groups.
Looks like the military will go through mandatory cutbacks so I think you will see a reduction in spending on the GWOT. Plus it is a lot cheaper to house troops in Colorado Springs than Bagram

A war on terrorism can never work unless we keep our big F-ing mouths shut for once. We don't give away our intel to the Times, we don't announce our military strategy, or when we're going to stop fighting, or who we're hunting, or what kind of info we get from terrorists etc.
If our country was playing poker with the rest of the world, we would be broke in a NY minute because everyone can always sees our cards. This was not always true, but for some reason, it's the American standard now.
