Will Obama Come Out Loud & Proud?

Joe Biden might have been floating a trial balloon last week when he supported homosexual marriage, but do you think the President will actually publicly come out supporting gays and lesbians in their attempts to marry in all 50 states?

I would have a lot more respect for the man if he did. It might cost him a few votes, but I think he could still win the election.

I would have more respect for him if he did, too. But he won't.

or.....would you jump on the bandwagon of "Obama lies" because he has said in the past he is in favor of civil unions, not gay marriage?

Very true, with the typical flip-flopping claims made by both sides, I could see Barack taking a lot of abuse by changing his official views.

It seems odd to me how Barry was so open about supporting the GLBT community during his campaign in 2008, he gladly collected their contributions and spent their money. I wonder how many of the GLBT community have already changed their minds about voting for Obama again in 2012 because Barry didn't do what he promised to do.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

What do you think he promised to do that he didn't do? He has never supported gay marriage that I know of, only civil unions.

Like repealing DADT? And what else has he done?

And what has Romney done?

* worked to enshrine discrimination into the Constitution by passing a federal marriage amendment,
* personally funding efforts to roll back equal rights for gays and lesbians in states,
* personally funded efforts to pass Prop-8 in California,
* making clear he would have kept Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell in place,”

“The country has moved forward since 1994, when Governor Romney was supposedly an advocate on these issues, yet Governor Romney has moved backwards.”

Sooooo, which one do you think the LGBT community is most likely to support? Hmmmmmmmm.... I wonder how many have changed their minds about Romney since he declared he would be "to the left of Ted Kennedy on LGBT issues"? Yeah, there's a flip-flop I can believe in...

Looks to me like Barry accomplished a helluva lot more than Romney did. And it looks to me like the one that didn't do what he promised to do was Gov. Etch-a-Sketch...

He did support gay marriage (in 1996) and then he didn't support gay marriage (2004 and 2008).

Obama’s position on same-sex marriage has vacillated over the years. He endorsed gay marriage during a 1996 run for the Illinois Senate, then opposed it when he ran for US Senate in 2004 and for president in 2008.

Obama won't lose the Lgbt community. He fixed Clinton's "don't ask don't tell".

But AP is reporting today that the community is going to try to get the party's official posistion changed on gay marriage during the convention. :VeryScared: 1968 all over again, but with pink feather boa's this time instead of rubber batons and tear gas?
