I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

How about a comment ON the post and not about who posted it or about the what the president before him did?

What did you think when Bush quit looking for the mastermind behind 9/11 six MONTHS after the twin towers fell?

That's a good idea. I'll PM Lady Jazzer and ask how we do that. We should be back on track in no time.

archer wrote: Taking out Bin Laden wasn't so much about weakening al Queda as it was finding and punishing the embodiment of 9/11. Bush made that promise that our country wouldn't rest rill he was dead. That was a message to the victims and to the perpetrators.....The USA will get justice. I appreciate Obama fulfilling that promise.

Can any of you military geniuses care to explain how Obama would of taken out bin Laden without Bush first taking out the Taliban with less than 500 Americans? Or how we would of done it without a missle added to a Predator drone (first used under Bush) which took out so many al-Qaeda (could of been used on bin Laden too, but they wanted the evidence which is understandable) and Obama continues to use the drones to this day and maybe even escalated it?

Anyone watch 60 Minutes tonight? It was interesting.

Hank Crumpton, now 55, spent 24 years in the murky world of the CIA Clandestine Service, including a year on loan to the FBI and a decade at CIA stations across Africa. We first met Hank Crumpton three years ago. That's when he agreed to return to Afghanistan with us and tell 60 Minutes about the capstone to his career as a spy, how the CIA forged a secret alliance with afghan tribal leaders, and how fewer than 500 Americans -- 110 CIA officers backed by teams of U.S. Special Operations Forces -- toppled the Taliban after 9/11.

Hank Crumpton: We saw a security detail, a convoy and we saw bin Laden exit the vehicle.

Lara Logan: Clearly?

Hank Crumpton: Clearly. And we had-- the optics were spot on. It was beaming back to us, CIA headquarters. We immediately alerted the White House. And the Clinton administration's response was, "Well, it will take several hours for the TLAMs, the cruise missiles launched from submarines, to reach that objective. So you need to tell us where bin Laden will be five or six hours from now." The frustration was enormous.

Lara Logan: So at that moment you wanted to kill him?

Hank Crumpton: Yes.

Lara Logan: But you couldn't get permission?

Hank Crumpton: Correct.

My point is this partisian stuff is dumb. Bush would of done the same as Obama did (the right thing), and both parties screwed up and later figured it out. Now Obama continues to do what Bush did with the drones and Gitmo (minus waterboarding 3 terrorists, just blowing up countless more with drones instead). And we tend to give our Presidents too much credit or blame for the work of our military and CIA. But that's normal.

This exchange is telling and is the final straw for me. It clearly shows some people who post here won't let themselves get involved in an honest civil discourse and prefer instead to deflect in partisan bickering. Posting on here is a lesson in futility, IMO.

I'm out of here. Have fun posting your little zingers to this post, as I know you'll do.

Bye JSG

Really if it bothers anyone all you have to do is ignore and keep right on posting about the topic. There will always be distractions.
