If you really want to encourage people to go green hit them in their pocketbook. Increase energy taxes and people will buy more fuel efficient cars and cut energy use at home but the Democrats were too scared to do that when they owned Congress. Instead we got these private industry pork projects.

Each taxpayer has paid millions for every green job? Somehow I doubt that, as not every company that could be labeled as providing "green" jobs has received government loans. I see that investing in renewable energy is going to strengthen this country's economy and security.

Even using the governments prediction of 65,000 green energy jobs created (which at the time of this article was only 3,500 jobs)....that would still be about $592,000 per job in an industry we can not compete in yet.
If I was loaned a million dollars to build a business to compete with companies that were far more efficient and profitable, that money would evaporate quickly and my lender would be left holding the bag. Until we find a way to create enough demand for green energy, and can do it profitably, it makes zero sense to keep dumping money into losing propositions.
I also find it curious why the Energy Department link in the article no longer works.
