Do you Tea Party people feel co-oped?

With Romney ( not your first choice) as your R nominee. Do you feel dissed? or is it the lesser of 2 evil syndrome? Are you good with how this turned out? Do you feel used or empowered? Seriously interested in your opinion.

Well I can't remember the last time I was excited about any candidate, certainly not McCain or Bush. I'm comfortable with Romney because my #1 issue is the economy and I'm 180 deg. apart from what the president and his advisors want. I don't see Romney going liberal with his policies because of what he's promised (not that I ever believe a politician). That's all any of us can do is hope our candidate does what he/she says.

But even if our candidate was Trump, I'd still vote for him over Obama... I've seen enough from him and the left in general.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Well... I'm far from a "tea party people" (is a "tea party" person sort of like an ethnic stigma)... so I'm not educated enough to answer the question. I do know some tea party people, some who are rather far right conservatives and others that are more in tune with my political ideology (fiscally conservative, socially liberal.. maybe that means small "l" libertarian).

But maybe I can address your "lesser of two evils" question. Neither President Obama or Mitt Romney are evil, in any sense of the word. That's a loaded question that will start an argument way before it starts a conversation. You're talking about two politicians who come from different ideological positions and neither one of those ideologies are evil. I feel one of those political ideologies, President Obama's, is wrong for this country, but not evil.

The tea party people I know are reasonable enough to understand that any ideology is going to have various spectrums of "believers" and they feel that Mitt Romney will satisfy some of their goals, and the areas where they don't agree, they do understand that those areas are still closer to their conservatism to be more palatable than anything that President Obama can (or has) offered.

Of course I suspect there are really far-right wing tea party people who are not going to be satisfied unless a fundamentalist preacher is sitting in the White House. But we have always had the populist religionist thumping on the stump, that goes back to the foundation of this country, and I don't see a theocracy in this country yet.

You assume that all tea party people are lock step fascists or something like that. Taint true.

I think the TEA party are more realistic than the Left assumes. When I attended the Colorado presidential primary as we discussed the candidates and their platforms people well to the right of me were choosing Romney over my choice Ron Paul because they wanted the guy with the best chance to win.

Both DW Twin and Fred seem to confirm that it is the lesser of 2 evils, I have voted that way my whole life too. I agree neither are evil, just the state of our political system in 2012. I blame us, the citizens , and feel powerless to change anything.

Both of our primary political parties are coalitions. Being what I view as a Jefferson Republican, I can't speak for what those who consider themselves belonging to the TEA Party coalition think of having Romney be the candidate for the Republican Party. I can say that I agree with Romney on some things and disagree with him on some things, but I will be voting for him come November because I agree with him on many more policies than I agree with Obama on. It is not so much the lesser of two evils, it is instead the vote which will result in the more desirable outcome.

I am of the opinion, and have been for quite some time, that a repeal of the 12th Amendment is the only remedy to the current problem that you present. By taking from the political parties the ability to reduce the choices offered to the citizens of the States in the national elections for the executive branch offices before the election, we might have a chance at creating a situation where the majority are casting a vote for the person who they believe would be the best person to be the chief executive for the next 4 years. Short of that, however, I think the candidates from both of the major parties is going to be a compromise candidate and receive votes based on the compromises made by the voters to cast their ballots for the candidate with whom they share a larger majority of views regarding policies.
