Obama administration's intelligence leaks threaten country

Obama on Friday assailed as "offensive" and "wrong" the idea that his White House would "purposely release" classified security information.

But King, speaking with Fox News, said the leaks had to have come from the president's inner circle.

"This is the most shameful cascade of leaks I've ever heard or seen in government," he said. "It's clear from those stories this came right from the White House, came right from the National Security Council, came right from the Situation Room. ... It has to lead to people very high up in the administration in his White House."

King, R-N.Y., alleged that the leaks must have been "approved from the top," and accused the president of grandstanding in an election year.

"I give him credit for a lot that he's done on overseas terrorism. There's no need, though, to put the nation's security at risk by trying to build up his reputation for the presidential election in November," he said.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Right...I'm sure King has no agenda in saying that. As much as Republicans have put out lie after lie about Obama I wouldn't trust anything they say.

Truth or not, the accusation and Barry's defensive reaction are reason enough to investigate. I highly doubt Holder will report the truth if it turns out the current administration is leaking classified information, even worse it's likely nothing will be done about it.

Secret ‘Kill List’ Proves a Test of Obama’s Principles and Will

“How old are these people?” he asked, according to two officials present. [/b][/i] “If they are starting to use children,” he said of Al Qaeda, “we are moving into a whole different phase.”

In interviews with The New York Times, three dozen of his current and former advisers [/b][/i] described Mr. Obama’s evolution since taking on the role, without precedent in presidential history, of personally overseeing the shadow war with Al Qaeda.

“Al Qaeda is an insular, paranoid organization — innocent neighbors don’t hitchhike rides in the back of trucks headed for the border with guns and bombs,” said one official, who requested anonymity to speak about what is still a classified program. [/b][/i]

“What’s a Qaeda facilitator?” asked one participant, illustrating the spirit of the exchanges. [/b][/i] “If I open a gate and you drive through it, am I a facilitator?”

“Well, he could have gotten it right and we’d all be sitting here with an airplane that blew up and killed over a hundred people,” he said, according to a participant. [/b][/i]

I don't know if leaks were "done" to help President Obama, and I really don't care. But the New York Time itself, in their article about the "kill list" absolutely states that some of their information came from White House. They admit to interviewing current White House advisors. The NYT times quotes White house officials that asked for anonymity and the NYT quotes participants in secret White House meetings.

No... I doubt the President picked up the phone and called the NYT with any information. But the NYT themselves admits in the article itself that information they gathered for this article came from sources in the White House. You are splitting hairs to claim other wise.

And Holder (and the FBI) have ordered investigations.

Attorney General Eric Holder said on Friday he had assigned two U.S. attorneys to lead investigations into the possible leaking of state secrets.

“The unauthorized disclosure of classified information can compromise the security of this country and all Americans, and it will not be tolerated,” he said in a statement.

Holder assigned U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Ronald C. Machen Jr., a Democratic appointee, and U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein, a holdover GOP appointee, to lead the investigations.

“These two highly respected and experienced prosecutors will be directing separate investigations currently being conducted by the FBI. I have every confidence in their abilities to doggedly follow the facts and the evidence in the pursuit of justice wherever it leads,” said Holder.

They are not investigating employees in the mail room. Look a little further up... like the White House, as so nicely reported in the New York Times.

Just a guess. Sometimes leaks are done just because the blabbermouth likes the attention from the press.

I don't care who leaked or what administrations have done it. The fact is, these need to stop NOW and anyone who is found guilty of it needs to be made an example of. The NYT imo is guilty as well and should be treated as a tabloid rag...they certainly don't have this countrys' best interests in mind.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I don't see where you have anything that says he did not and one of his staff did not do it. So What.

That is why there is this thing called an INVESTIGATION. Ever heard of that. But then again the Atty General EH is the one appointing the investigating Atty's so who knows. Holder couldn't find himself out of a wet paper bag.

What about the title of this thread......"Obama administration's intelligence leak"? Is it attributed to the Obama administration just because he is president when it happened.....if some contractor leaked it....is it still attributed to Obama's administration? I'm sorry, but automatically blaming Obama, the White House, or the administration seems premature.
