Democrats U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and Congressman Nick Rahall, who all face reelection battles this November, have decided to skip the Democratic National Convention in September.
The decisions of the three to stay home come after increasing pressure from Republicans to declare whether or not they support President Obama for reelection. Rahall, who represents West Virginia's third district, has already said he backs the President, but Manchin and Tomblin have refused to commit.
Yes, we all noticed the unswerving (read: lackluster) support of Romney by Santorum, and a huge number of teabaggers who can't seem to wrap their minds around a Romney candidacy.
Not to mention the fact that now that Obama has put Romney AND Rubio between-a-rock-and-a-hard-place over the Hispanic issue, it's pretty obvious that they're NOT going to get Hispanic support...(And even George Will has said that if they don't get between 35-40% of the Hispanic vote, HE CANNOT WIN...) And that's not even counting the women's vote; the black vote; the senior vote; the LGBT vote...
But, hey, he's got the foaming-at-the-mouth paleo-cons and the religious-Reich social-wacko vote sewn up!
