cute photo, cg ----

There's a huge diversity of views in the Christian church on gender issues. Just look at the Methodist Church! They ordain (gasp) women! Even so, I'd expect views on gender roles to be every bit as broad in the secular world. Sure - people use smatterings of mis-contextualized doctrine to justify their views ---- but that's exploiting faith, rather than propagating it.

However, Christianity isn't about patriarchy/matriarchy ---- it's about Christ.

Granted - some folks (Kevin Swanson, and oddly - the Catholic Church, for example) try to make it about that ---- but that's a distraction - and that's religion.

Christianity is about the person and the teachings of Jesus Christ ---- nothing more, nothing less. Read his words, decide whether or not he is who he says --- and live it out.

Yes, Christ was nailed to the cross
but someone here is forgetting the end of that story.

Speaking only for myself, it comes down to this. Science may be able to tell me what reason is, but it will never be able to explain why there is reason. Science and reason may be able to tell me how the universe works, but it will never be able to tell me why there is a universe. Science and reason may be able to tell me what happened during the Big Bang, but it will never be able to explain why there was a Big Bang. I believe that I have the answer to why the Big Bang occurred - Genesis 1:3 - "And God said, "Let there be light", and there was light."

I am glad that this lady has found the light and decided to share it rather than keep it under a basket.

And I think you know the answer to that question CG, don't you? The reason you hear about our relationship with our Creator is the same reason we share information with you about the rest of the important beings in our life. He makes a contribution to each and every day that we live; just as our spouses, children, pets (and other critters) do. Sometimes we are happy about that contribution, sometimes we are angry, sometimes we are hurt, sometimes we are awed - but each and every day that we live is shaped by our relationship to Him in some fashion. We are sharing a part of ourselves with you, kind of like passing along a great recipe, or a movie that we liked and think you'd like too. It's been called the greatest story that's ever been told - and even those who disagree with our beliefs would have to admit the truth in that statement - even if they ascribe a different interpretation to the phrase.

Bull pucky...

The best answer to your question is very hard to grasp. In our known universe, we have observed particles to simply come into existence out of nothing, seemingly violating the laws of conservation of mass. In Quantum Mechanics, it becomes possible for particles at the subatomic level to simply come into existence, and then disappear almost immediately. What a lot of scientists think is that the big bang started out as a quantum particle that simply came to exist out of nothingness, and then proceeded to drag spacetime and other quantum particles with it. Before the big bang there was no spacetime, and this is a very hard concept to grasp, admittedly.

You're making stuff up again.
