The blogger brings up an interesting point. Is morality ingrained in humans or does it come about through a divine being?
Is it genetic that certain rules seem to pop up in most cultures, but could that be because God hardwires us that way, or the cultures that don't observe these common laws don't survive?

“Do you really mean to tell me the only reason you try to be good is to gain God's approval and reward, or to avoid his disapproval and punishment? That's not morality, that's just sucking up, apple-polishing, looking over your shoulder at the great surveillance camera in the sky, or the still small wiretap inside your head, monitoring your every move, even your every base though.”

There are some people who are moral just because it is the right thing to do. But there are others who need the carrot and stick.

I don't think there is a carrot nor a stick.
