Neat! I guess they forgot the obvious solution of having a non-toll road which maybe would not have required power for the toll collection and admin headquarters? Duh. Another great solution in search of a problem.
In all, solar-generated electricity panels will power streetlights, variable message signs, toll collection equipment, toll plazas, maintenance facilities and the E-470 administrative headquarters along a 17-mile stretch between 64th Avenue and Gartrell Road.
You know I had read about this. As you know E-470 is in my neck of the woods. We report for them and post stuff and they have money to burn. All they do is give money away in constant contests. $500 here and $250 there. Why the hell do they have a toll road if they have money to give away all the time. There was also a scandal at the end of last year on their unfair charging of exorbitant late fees. They fixed it but I just see alot of waste. with all the problems with short falls I don't get why the toll money is not going to other things. I personally don't trust E-470 stuff.
These are our tax dollars so I am not that impressed. I bet it is costing more than saving. Just my opinion. Just FYI, didn't read the article but I had heard about it a few weeks ago on their communications to us.
CG I heard about the toll penalty BS, glad to hear they supposedly fixed that. The point is they are making a big deal about all this fancy solar green power that wouldn't even be needed without the toll collection and admin offices. I just thought it was funny. I hate toll roads. Raise the gas tax instead.

Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
I agree. They are wasting the money they are collecting so why are they doing it in the first place.
One thing I do like is they do give good services like monitoring and help for broken down vehicles. My complaint is the giving money away and using it for things that have nothing to do with the highway.
