WTH? They did the same damn thing after Katrina. Jeez, if they can't argue their point of Global warming without using natural weather changes they suck.
I heard the big bad, "we are going to have more and more hurricanes like this because of global warming" story after Katrina. The next year not one hit the US. Integrity, is the issue. We had NO SNOW in march and april. And 100 degree days in JUNE. And we have more homes in the mountains. That is what did it. Now, don't get me wrong, the fact that more and more houses are built in the mountains puts people at risk but this is not some doomsday it is going to keep happening thing. Scare tactics piss me off. And most people should see through them.
I've noticed it is getting harder and harder to find factual articles in the news on almost any subject. They are all written with some slant, with selective facts to support the slanted title. USA Today, WSJ, and NY Times seem to be the better ones IMO I'm sure there are others too. Forget CNN and the big 3 or 4 Networks.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Even PBS, which I've considered in the past to be more balanced, is showing its bias these days. You almost have to do your own research and figure it out. So why do we have the media?? Oh, yeah! To promote their latest reality series! :VeryScared:
Entitlement Whore wrote: In the fires you are seeing the early vanguard of how billions and billion will die due to global warming. Mark my words.
lol I have marked your words.
The reason we have press is to repeat true or mostly false things over and over until people believe it. Not necessary to be accurate.

"The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." attributed to Margaret Thatcher
"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government." Thomas Jefferson
If people build in flood plains, they will get flooded, and if you build in wooded areas, you have a better chance of getting burned down thnd as an if you don't.
And I also wonder how many suvs driven 15k miles a year it would take to equal the amount of CO created by the average (or this years) amount of wildfires?
"Fires are obviously one of the major responses to climate change, but fires are not only a response -- they feed back to warming, which feeds more fires," Swetnam said.
When vegetation burns, the resulting release of stored carbon increases global warming. The more fires, the more carbon dioxide released, the more warming -- and the more warming, the more fires.
The very fine soot, known as black carbon, that is released into the atmosphere by fires also contributes to warming.
"The scary bit is that, because of the feedbacks and other uncertainties, we could be way underestimating the role of fire in driving future climate change," Swetnam said.
