Boehner: Voters 'Aren't Going To Fall In Love With Romney'

By now, Republican laments that presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney is not the most inspiring figure to ever run for president are well-known.

According to Roll Call , the House Speaker said at a fundraiser in West Virginia last month that "the American people probably aren’t going to fall in love with Mitt Romney."

Roll Call reports that at the June 30 event, a female attendee asked Boehner, "Can you make me love Mitt Romney?" Boehner responded, "No."

Let's look at that quote in context...

"Listen, we're just politicians," Mr. Boehner said. "I wasn't elected to play God. The American people probably aren't going to fall in love with Mitt Romney. I'll tell you this: 95 percent of the people that show up to vote in November are going to show up in that voting booth, and they are going to vote for or against Barack Obama."

The markedly frank comments from the House Speaker also touched on Mr. Romney's Mormon faith, which Democrats have vowed not to highlight as a campaign issue.

"Mitt Romney has some friends, relatives and fellow Mormons ... some people that are going to vote for him," Mr. Boehner said.

"But that's not what this election is about. This election is going to be a referendum on the president's failed economic policies."

"Mitt Romney believes, just like we do, that if we're going to get the economy back, if we're going to put the American people back to work, we need to fix the tax code, we need to stop the regulatory juggernaut that's going on in Washington, and we need to fix our economy," he continued. "Solid guy, he's going to do a great job, even if you don't fall in love with him."

How many Obama supporters who fell in love with Obama are still in love after his 4 year performance? I'd bet my house that if Hillary went up against Obama, she would wipe the floor with him this year. So while Democrats may not be as excited and giddy to vote for Obama again, he is all they have and they wouldn't vote for any Republican anyway.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

What would expect to hear from a member of the opposite party?

"He's OK. Let's just keep him another four years" ???
