Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood Wants To Tear Down the Pyramids?

I read this yesterday but wasn't a source I had seen before. While I could imagine certain extremists wanting to erase signs of earlier religions, like is currently happening in Mali, I would hope the responsible people would realize what a hit it would take for tourism.

But if it is going to happen, it would be cool to see the pyramids dismantled slowly by scientists to check if there are more hidden rooms, etc.

That makes me sick. Of course if it's true, they'll blow them up like they did with the ancient Buddhist statues in Afghanistan. What a wonderful thing religion is...loving...tolerant... </sarcasm>

I love reading right-wing blogs. They have some far-fetched claims.

I read some time back that we still don't have the technology to even MOVE a single block that's part of the Pyramids. Not sure if that's true. The blocks average about 2 1/2 tons but the large granite stones in the ceiling of the king's chamber weigh between 50 and 70 tons alone.

There are 2,300,000 blocks of stone in the Great Pyramid. It would take decades, perhaps hundreds of years, to tear them down. I doubt explosives would do much, either.

There was some also speculation that it would be nearly impossible to destroy these pyramids, even with explosives. Pyramids are a very stable design, and have lasted thousands of years through earthquakes etc.

(Or destroying the pyrmaids would piss off the aliens and they would return to wreck havoc.)

I've lifted 600 tons at once.
Way back in the 70's.

That was the 0070's, not the 1970's.

I was in Rome once and the guide said this was built in the 60's, not the 1960's, the 60's AD.

No we lifted a nuclear reactor wieghing a little over 600+tons in one continuous lift for 20 hours until we placed it where it belonged.

Another time we placed a 200 ton fresh water recycler in place in 1985.

The list goes on and on...

If they harm those pyramids the aliens that built them will be pissed off and will come back for revenge.
