Romney Adviser: 'Real Americans' Don't Care About Candidate's Afghanistan Policy

In a week when defense industry leaders gathered in Washington to sound the alarm about potential cuts to defense spending, Mitt Romney pledged his support for a "military that's second to none" and vowed not to slash the Pentagon's funds.

"I will not cut the military budget," he told the American Legion, which published excerpts on Thursday from an interview with the presumptive Republican nominee. "I will instead expand our essential weapons programs and our [number of] active-duty personnel. I do these things not so that we have to fight wars, but so that we can prevent wars."

Romney is a longtime critic of cutting the defense budget, arguing that shrinking the numbers of ground troops, planes and ships will damage national security. While the Pentagon has proposed $487 billion in budget cuts over the next decade, Romney has suggested increasing the military's budget by as much as $2 trillion during the same period, according to some estimates.

Last week, Romney surrogates also made the case that defense cuts will eliminate many jobs, with Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.) saying that President Obama will be responsible for "a huge box of pink slips" if the Pentagon budget keeps being reduced.

rofllol  Only in Romney's "haven't got a clue" world... You can't make this stuff up... :Snooze

I keep wondering where these buffoons get off declaring what "real Americans" care/don't care bout... Like, they would know what "Real Americans" are?...(and aren't?) I'm a 15th generation American...I'm real...and I care...

So, f**k you, Mitt Romney

8.2% unemployment & a record number of Americans on food stamps. Methinks it is the economy stupid instead of foreign policy.

Oh, so you admit that you are so intellectually challenged that you are unable to think about more than one topic at a time. That explains a lot.

This election won't be decided by foreign policy or differences in defense spending. It will be all about who Americans think will do the best job with the economy. Meanwhile Obama has played 100 rounds of golf and hasn't held a meeting of his Jobs Committee in six months. Nice to know Obama would rather host backyard BBQ'S than work on jobs.

Nice to know that the GOP would rather work on anti-gay legislation, denying women's health issues, and demanding investigations for "Muslims infiltrating the government" than working on jobs.

Obama promised an unemployment rate of 5% by now. Looks like he is as bad forecasting as he is leading.

A plan announced by the administration on Wednesday to streamline the review process for permits on major infrastructure projects actually came from the jobs council, including for ports in Charleston, S.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Miami; New York and New Jersey; and Savannah, Ga.

Woodrow Wilson played about 1,200 rounds during his presidency. Dwight Eisenhower is the runner-up at 800, according to his memorial commission.

He didn't even "PROMISE" the 8% that the wackos keep claiming:

More Romney Lies – A “Below 8% Unemployment Figure” Was Never Promised by Mr. Obama

Here is an exact quote from Mitt Romney;

“Three years ago, a newly elected President Obama told America that if Congress approved his plan to borrow nearly a trillion dollars, he would hold unemployment below 8 percent.”

Although that piece of information is sweet to the listening ears of his Republican base, the facts surrounding the Stimulus and the 8% unemployment figure proves that in addition to mastering the art if shipping American jobs overseas, Mitt Romney is also good at one other thing – lying to the American public.

Here are the facts:

Interestingly, the information to disprove this claim exists on the Romney campaign Web site. Far from being anything that Obama said, the Romney campaign acknowledges that this 8 percent figure comes from a staff-written projection issued Jan. 9, 2009 — before Obama had taken the oath of office. Of course, the campaign still spins it as a negative.

Here’s what happened. Two Obama aides, Christina Romer, the nominee to head the Council of Economic Advisers, and Jared Bernstein, an incoming economic adviser to Vice President-elect Biden, wrote a 14-page report that attempted to assess the impact of a possible $775 billion stimulus package and how much of a difference it would make compared to doing nothing.

Thus, it was not an official government assessment or even an analysis of an actual plan that had passed Congress.

Page 4 of the report included a chart that showed that unemployment would peak at 8 percent in 2009, compared to 9 percent in 2010 if nothing was done. But the report also contained numerous caveats and warnings because, after all, it was merely a projection.

In any case, Obama himself never “told America” that his plan “would hold unemployment below 8 percent,” as Romney claims. This was merely a staff report about a generic stimulus package, not even Obama’s own plan.

A Romney spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.

I'll continue to wait for that "source"... Until then, it's the usual crapola pulled from the usual orifice... But you keep trying, Fred... One of these days you'll get one right...Until then, you're in the same "Class: stupid" with Arlen and Bear...

Once again, this election isn't going to turn on the policy in Afghanistan no matter what you think.

And nice spin on the 5% quote!
