I can't answer this, I picked it up on the scanner before it was news and there was alot of confusion at first we thought it was a bomb. Then I kept thinking it was maybe someone that was mad about the tickets being scalped when I found out about the dark knight midnight showing. I knew that premiere was starting soon but not sure when. Then when I found out it was a shooting I thought it was an ex that maybe was upset that someone was at the theater with someone else. When I wrote this post I knew this would be news but I did not know that this was a mass shooting of a mad man that just wanted to kill. IT took a while to know the gravity of it. I saw it from the perspective of OMG there is a terrible shooting and I did not know this was nearly as big a story as it was. I think at about 5 AM I realized that this was going to change everything and that the national news was going to be all over it. Especially when Smoky Hill Bound started getting calls. One being from a New York news station. To me this was just a terrible thing in my own back yard.

My best to those directly influenced by this event.
It was in the headline of my email alert that I saw at 6:54am, so I didn't have an opportunity to guess where it was.
Interesting question though...because there have been shootings here in CO, and it's natural for people to think of their sphere of influence first, it wouldn't surprise me if many thought of CO first.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
