In a speech today, Romney finally admits the failings of the Republican party. That the unfunded liabilities are bringing the country down, and we can quickly rise once again. He fails to address those unfunded liabilities, but those are obvious. 12 years ago this country had a large surplus. Yet now we are facing a huge deficit. The primary causes of the deficits are the unfunded tax cuts of Bush in 2002 and the 2 wars that the US entered into without providing a mechanism for paying for them.
We are coming up on a threshold where we will need to pay for those liabilities yet the Republicans are refusing to do so, wanting to continue those unfunded liabilities without providing a means for paying for them. The Republicans are trying to foist the burden for paying for those liabilities onto the lower and middle classes while letting the wealthiest one percent to reap even greater wealth without burden.
"He also spoke about an unplanned meeting he had with the foreign minister of Australia, who was at the hotel where Romney's event was and asked for a brief sit down, officials said.
The meeting came ahead of Romney's major foreign swing, and the candidate's description featured a line that seems likely to be used again:
"He said something, and I said 'Can I quote you?' and he said yes. He said 'America is just one budget deal away from ending all talk of America being in decline.' What he meant by that is that if we get serious about taking steps to make sure that America will finally get to a balanced budget, and if we make sure these unfunded liabilities don't crush us, if we show the world that we come together to get that job done, if we have real leadership that will get Congress to work together and actually reach that conclusion, that agreement, than the world will recognize America's going to come roaring back. And this idea of America in decline, it was interesting he said that, he led the talk of America being in decline. See that's not talk we hear about here as much as they're hearing there. And if they're thinking about investing in America, entrepreuneurs putting their future in America, if they think America's in decline they're not gonna do it."

It wasn't a large surplus when you consider how much debt we have. And the primary cause is the tax cuts of the Bush years? Half those tax cuts were for people earning under 250K, in fact, it took a lot of lower income people out of being taxed all together. Do you want to bring those back?
OR DO YOU JUST WANT TO SOAK THE RICH? Because the figures are out there, won't bring that much money to the treasury, not even enough for all the current spending and could bring austerity.
So should I put you on the list of people who want to put the death blow on this economy barely starting to crawl out of 2008?
It pains me to see all the unfunded spending, but I think it must continue, I would just like it to be better spent. And I am willing to see some increased taxes, but taxageddon will hurt.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
If it won't bring that much money to the treasury, then the rich can stop complaining about how much it is going to cost them. The fantasy about "job-creators" is wearing thin...
The "job-creators" are the consumers...If you don't have demand, you can create all you want, but it will fail. And we know trickle-down hasn't, doesn't and won't.
Obamacare is a new huge under-funded liability that is going to explode in the future. There is no simple "one budget deal" fix.
Major tax reforms, entitlement reforms and a 4-5% GDP growth are needed, very tall order, not a simple one budget deal. Zero progress has been made on those items in the past 4-years.
Well we did have a "study" and deficit commission report that was shelved, if you want to count that as progress.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
