Denver Police Chief Robert White dressed down a cop at Denver International Airport Sunday night after the officer told his wife she couldn't wait at the curb as he headed out of the terminal.
White had arrived in Denver from Louisville, Ky., where he was giving a deposition in a case. He is the former Louisville police chief.
White's wife, Valerie, had circled the airport three times without stopping.
Most airports solve this problem with a close in short term parking area, and reasonable rates for the first 2 hours. Shouldn't have yelled at the cop, he was just doing his job.

Sounds like some people didn't even read the article...
"That is ridiculous. I wouldn't have treated a regular citizen like that. You can't wait 10 seconds to see if he is coming out of the door? My point being it had nothing to do with me being the police chief."
Well I am glad the hard nose rule of not waiting has finally effected someone that might be able to change the rules a bit for picking up people at DIA. I had the same trouble when I was picking up my Mother with a bad knee, she couldn't walk out from behind the glass fast enough for the traffic cop that was telling me to scoop the loop again and again.
I was talking today with an inside source and it sounds like Denver's new police chief isn't liked very much, and even the African-American officers call him a derisive character nickname from Redd Foxx. Maybe one way of sticking it to the boss? Denver gave him a 2 year contract and the rank and file wish it was already over.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Or maybe not. The officer had no way of knowing he was dealing with the police chief's wife. So he couldn't have known it was the police chief she was waiting on.
