Mitt Romney Walks Back London Olympics Criticism

Mitt Romney, in his first trip abroad as the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, is trying to walk back comments he made questioning London's Olympics preparation -- comments that have drawn a sharp response from Prime Minister David Cameron.

The dustup began Wednesday, as Romney, who ran the 2002 Salt Lake City games, said there were "disconcerting" signs in the days before this year's games.

"The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials -- that obviously is not something which is encouraging," he told NBC News.

"Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that's something which we only find out once the games actually begin," he said.

Cameron soon rebuked Romney. "We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course, it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere," he said.

Well, looks like Doofus put his foot in it again... I just love seeing the words "walks back" in the same sentence with Gov. Etch-a-Sketch trying to play at "photo-op". I guess that ol' "American Exceptionalism" doesn't extend to him.

No wonder he's called "Flipper."

Perfectly valid concerns. Having to call in the armed forces to replace a security firm that totally failed is a sign of bad choices, which could wind up killing people.

Then after seeing how they fixed the problem, you can give them a tumbs up later.

Much ado about nothing.

I guess it was...

His first trip abroad as a candidate and he insults the very first country he visits. Now is he really apologizing to our allies, instead of the imaginary tour that some conservatives have been trying to make it seem like President Obama has done. Romney shows how much of a dick he is on a daily basis.

Not surprisingly, the British press has compiled a list of his gaffes while in the UK:

The British press has been full of numerous Olympic gaffes but it was unwise for Mitt to pile on. I think it was partially due to him wanting to boast about the great job he did with the Winter Olympics.

But at least he didn't try to speak Austrian.
