No, it hasn't. Until recently it was just a bloody uprising.

"The bloody uprising has gone on for 16 months and has claimed more than 10,000 lives. Now, the International Committee of the Red Cross is calling it a civil war, which could have significant repercussions for the future of the conflict."
Syria is heading to civil war, but just listening to NPR this morning, it is clear, that the Free Syrian Army is more a dream than a true opposistion to Damascus rule. The oppposistion is still very disorganized and has very few heavy weapons. Not even close to the Whites versus the Reds in Russia or the Spanish Republicans versus Franco's Fascists.

Mitt Romney Comments At Fundraiser Outrage Palestinians
JERUSALEM -- Mitt Romney told Jewish donors Monday that their culture is part of what has allowed them to be more economically successful than the Palestinians, outraging Palestinian leaders who called his comments racist and out of touch.
"As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality," the Republican presidential candidate told about 40 wealthy donors who breakfasted around a U-shaped table at the luxurious King David Hotel.
The reaction of Palestinian leaders to Romney's comments was swift and pointed.
"It is a racist statement and this man doesn't realize that the Palestinian economy cannot reach its potential because there is an Israeli occupation," said Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
"It seems to me this man (Romney) lacks information, knowledge, vision and understanding of this region and its people," Erekat added. "He also lacks knowledge about the Israelis themselves. I have not heard any Israeli official speak about cultural superiority."
The economic disparity between the Israelis and the Palestinians is actually much greater than Romney stated. Israel had a per capita gross domestic product of about $31,000 in 2011, while the West Bank and Gaza had a per capita GDP of just over $1,500, according to the World Bank.
Romney, seated next to billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson at the head of the table, told donors at his fundraiser that he had read books and relied on his own business experience to understand why the difference is so great.
Welllllll, there you have it...He's "read books" and "relied on his business experience" (and, no doubt, from input from people like Sheldon Adelson) to formulate his expert opinion on such matters...
God help us all. Let this moron finish his photo-op/fundraising tour and get back to the States before one of the nations he's p*ssed-off declares war on us.
Wow, who would have thought that the Palestinians would dislike Romney's comments no matter how true they are? Palestine has a great opportunity to revitalize their country. In Israel, they are tired of war and if the the Palestinians actually stopped fighting and launching missiles into the Jewish state, Israel would stand down. Many more tourists would come to a peaceful holy land, and companies would invest in a Arab democracy with highly educated citizens. Instead, the Palestinians remain pawns for Iran, Syria, and others.
One thing I don't like? Going overseas to raise money, even if most of the donors are American.

Yes, and it's soooo "presidential" to tick off the Palestinians by saying that the "capital of Israel is Jerusalem", when that's been an unsettled matter for decades, and the official US policy is to resolve it through peaceful negotiations between the affected parties...(rather than by some empty-suit who "read a book" telling them whose city it is...) And soooo "presidential" to tell the Palestinians that they're responsible for their own "economic disparities" because he "read a book"....
Yes, it may well be true that the Palestinians should concentrate more on peaceful coexistence than bombing and rocketing Israel; just as it was probably true that he had concerns about the security at the Olympics; just as it was true that he may have met with the head of MI-6 while in Great Britain... And god help us that this moron doesn't seem to have a clue about how to conduct himself on the world stage.
But, hey, "You slap a coat of paint on that ol' "Wailing Wall", and if I like it, I'll buy it...."

Would you stand down if someone came into the United States and claimed it as their homeland, forcing you to live on a small strip of land (like part of Florida)? Palestinians consider Israelis the occupiers of their homeland.
Well, the Palestinians need to realize in their situation, might wins out over right. Because they refuse to submit, they live behind huge walls and have to go through security checks on thier ways into Israel for business. Meanwhile Arabs living in Israel peacefully are enjoying living in a stable economy.
